To illustrate this idea, we use the idea of the "House of Maths"

BASIC
NUMERICAL
SKILLS

The House
Of Maths
Maths is a subject that is built layer upon layer. Each new layer is dependent upon the previous layer. The most critical layer is the foundation layer - Basic Numerical Skills.
1. The Foundation
The four operations of Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division form the foundation of the House of Maths.

2. The Building
Mastering the basics. If a student cannot do 9 x 3 = 27 or 27 ÷ 3 = 9, he will be unable to simplify fractions, do long multiplication or long division, problem solving, area calculations, algebra and .....

3. The Roof
Gaining Confidence for the task. When a student is able to Master the basics they will find themselves gaining confidence in this area.

It is our strong belief that the single biggest cause of the maths problem is a poor foundation in
basic numerical skills.
Master the basics and it paves the way to a better future in maths.
